"It is always suggested that we act in accordance with where we are. We sometimes get inspired, but then we become fearful. This is very common. We have to know how much we are willing to let go and how much we want to hold on. It’s not likely that [as happened to Shariputra] anyone will ask us for a limb. But in many other ways we are called to do more than we are willing to do. How much we are willing to step out of the small self is put to the test every day. So, while respecting our limits, we have to realize that growth will depend on stretching those limits—taking joy in stretching them."
